Sergeant Edward Callery – Cranston Police

Appointed Oct. 15, 1947

     Sgt. Edward J. Callery passed away on April 7, 2007 at the Cedar Crest Care Center. His funeral was private. Ed was born on April 15, 1926. He joined the Cranston Police Department on October 15, 1947 and retired February 27, 1973. Before taking ill, Ed was a regular at our Breakfast Meetings. We will miss him.

Officer Carmine DePetrillo – Cranston Police

     Patrolman Carmine DePetrillo was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.  He served the citizens of Cranston for 27 years before retiring.    He passed away on June 21, 2007. 

Detective Bartholemeo DiSano – Cranston Police

 

Officer Bartholemeo DiSano

 

     Detective Bartholemeo (Benny) DiSano, 79, passed away at Rhode Island Hospital on July 27, 2007.  He was born in Providence in 1928 to Raffaele and Teresina (Pitochelli) DiSano.  He was the husband of Mary (Prata) DiSano.  He was a WWII Army veteran having served in the Military Police.  He was appointed to the Cranston Police Department on December 3, 1956.  During his career he earned four citations for service beyond the call of duty.  He retired on October 5, 1978.  Rest in peace our brother.    

Detective Deus O. LeClair – Cranston Police

     Detective Deus O. LeClair, 75, of Bradenton, Fl. passed away on December 31, 2007. He is survived by his wife Barbara, a daughter Denise, and two sons, Richard and Charles.  Deus was hired by the Cranston Police Department on December 28, 1955, and retired on July 1, 1985.  Rest in peace our brother.

Lieutenant Robert J. Carroll – Cranston Police

Lieut. Robert J. Carroll

     January 17, 2008 – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lt Robert J. Carroll, 65, of Clarion St., Cranston who passed away on Tuesday January 15, 2008 at R.I. Hospital, Providence.  He was the husband of Dolores DiMeo Duffy.He was born in Providence to the late Joseph and Mary (Maynard) Carroll.Hired by the Cranston Police Department on September 8, 1965 and retired on September 23, 1991 after 26 years, Bob was a past president and member of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers #301 and was very active in the Cranston Police Department Retiree Association (CPDRA) where he was instrumental in implementing its first official website.  He was also an avid outdoorsman, very active in Cranston community affairs and activities, and a communicant of St. Ann’s Church.Bob was a 1960 graduate of Cranston High School East and Bryant College in 1973.Besides his wife, he is survived by his children; Diane Bertrand of Coventry, Kathleen Carroll of Warwick, Scott Carroll of Glocester, and Sonya Carroll of Cranston, his step-children; Matthew 3rd, Kevin, Michael, and Doreen Duffy, and the late Joseph A. Carroll II.  He was also the grandfather of Thomas and Rebecca Carroll, Nicole Bertrand, and step-grandfather to Liam, Aiden, Brenden, Ciara, and Mya Duffy.  We will miss him.
