Captain George H. Dibble

Captain George H. Dibble was appointed to the police department sometime in the 1920s, and was assigned to the Edgewood area.  He learned to take shorthand, which made him a valuable asset, and was transferred to clerk and desk duties at police headquarters.  (No other Cranston police officers were fluent in shorthand.)  He was later promoted to sergeant sometime about 1938-39, and in April of 1941 he was elevated to lieutenant.  By 1945 he held the rank of captain.

     Rest in peace.
