Chief Anthony Moretti – Cranston Police

Chief Anthony Moretti

     November 30, 2016 – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Chief Anthony Moretti on November 28, 2016.  He was the beloved husband of Teresa “Terry” (Colaiacomo) for the past 65 years.  Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late Anthony Moretti and Mary (Fascia) Palmer and step-son of the late Forrest Palmer.  Chief Moretti was a lifelong Cranston resident and honorably served the city as a police officer for 34 years and Chief of Police from 1976 until his retirement in 1983.  He was then appointed Chief of Child Investigations for DCYF for seven years.  Chief Moretti was a valedictorian of his graduating class at Salve Regina University and also a graduate from the FBI National Academy.  During his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with friends at his son’s business and his loving family.  Besides his wife, he was the devoted father of Susan R. Buontempo and her husband John, Steven A. and Anthony Moretti; loving grandfather of Christopher Buontempo, Gina Todesca and her husband Paul, Gianna DelCioppio and her husband Joseph and Steven Moretti Jr.; loving great-grandfather of Paul Todesca III and Gia Todesca and ear brother of Ann Verducco.
