     June 12, 2008 – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Det. Enrico C. Maccarone, Badge# 70, of Quail Hollow Rd, Cranston who passed away on Tuesday, June 10,2008 at RI Hospital in Providence, R.I.  He was born in Providence and the son of the late Gabriele and Mary (Machioni) Maccarone.Rico was appointed to the Cranston Police Department on October 2, 1967 and retired on July 29, 1994 where he held the position of Detective within the department. As the founding member, and President, of the Cranston Police Department Retirees Association, he was instrumental in taking an idea of assisting CPD retirees and making it a reality.  He was also a former Exhaulted Ruler with the Providence/Cranston Lodge of Elks#14.Besides his wife Barbara (Forrest), he is survived by his children Theresa Kaplan of Wariwck, Vincent Maccarone and Karen DiLorenzo both of Cranston; his grandchildren Christopher Kaplin, Stephani DiLorenzo, Valerie and Julianne Maccarone; and was the brother of the late Louis Maccarone.  305, you will be greatly missed by all CPD officers and retirees.
