Sergeant William F. Grady – Cranston Police

Sgt. William Grady

February 20, 2013 – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sgt. William F. Grady on February 17, 2013.  He was the beloved husband and best friend of the late Christine M. (Warburton) Grady. Born in Providence on October 25, 1949, Bill was the devoted and loving son of Mary (Campagnone) Grady of Warwick and the late Arthur J. Grady.  He was a graduate of Warwick Veterans High School and attend Bryant University and Roger Williams University, respectfully.  After graduating, he joined the Navy and served his country during the Vietnam War.  Upon honorable discharge, he gained employment with the City of Cranston as a police office, which became his true calling for the next twenty years. He retired from the Cranston Police Department with the rank of Sergeant in 1992 with a highly decorated career behind him and too many friends to count.  He then went on to a second career in the private sector, working as a Loss Prevention Manager with Bob’s Stores.  Finally retiring permanently in 2009 as a regional supervisor, he had shined as brightly there as he had with the CPD, making yet more lifelong friends. Besides his mother, Bill is survived by his only child, a daughter, Tracey E. Grady of West Warwick, whom he loved more than life. Bill was a kind, gentle and courageous man.  He loved his family and friends deeply and loyally, never looking for anything in return except perhaps a smile.  He will be deeply missed.
